Vanini is an Italian chocolate brand, known for its premium cocoa that comes from carefully selected plantations. With 10 years of collaboration, Mad has been commissioned by the company to develop the new line of Uganda chocolate bars, made with incredible and unique cocoa from the Bundibugyo cooperatives, where the parent company has established a company to support the cultivation and the harvesting process of cocoa.
The challenge lies in the packaging material, made of 80% renewable raw materials and is 100% compostable, according to the rules of industrial disposal. The goal was to create a design that emphasizes the origins of cocoa, which is highly attractive and relevant to the public, considering the printing difficulties on this kind of material.
The visual design is a tribute to the African territory, which we have represented in different illustrations and colors across all 6 references, which recall the wild nature of Uganda and the fabrics worn by local women. A clear architecture has been created to promote the communication of the plus and uniqueness of the product, highlighting the main ingredients. The challenge of using colors on this type of material was won creating a design that expresses the rawness of the organic product, creating a harmonious balance between high quality indulgence and a sustainable lifestyle.
We boldly proposed a different approach, respecting the values of the brand, bringing a sustainable and contemporary concept philosophy into the design, merging craftsmanship and high technology.
